I will readily admit I’m not an expert when it comes to vintage Rolex. It’s the most glaring weak spot in my watch-knowledge arsenal. There’s so much répliques de montres nuance to the fake omega watches category, with minuscule details that are impossibly difficult to keep track of and there are plenty of fakes out there to confuse the issue. But still, I would have never guessed that the engine that had driven interest in the vintage watch market for so long could ever take a backseat to F.P. Journe and other indies.
