Technical Coordinator

Job Description

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The Technical Coordinator is responsible for the overall programme implementation including providing guidance, day to day coordination and monitoring of programme and project development, resource mobilization, preparing the programme work plans and implementation, ensuring timely delivery of the programmes/projects, reporting and oversight of the administration.

DUTIES

 The Technical Coordinator reports to the Representative and will manage national and regional projects and those external resources that support food security, agriculture, and rural (Family Island)  development aligned with IICA priorities. The Technical Coordinator will coordinate among divisions at Headquarters to develop, promote and oversee IICA’s strategic response to the country priorities. The Technical Coordinator will work with the Technical and Financial Administrator in monitoring the efficient project implementation and draw attention to any problems and deficiencies. The Delegation also forges and fosters relationships with Government of The Bahamas, International Organizations, resource partners and other development institutions at the country level.

Min 8 years senior project development experience

  •  Manages the development, implementation and evaluation of Global Environmental Facility (GEF) and other assigned programs/projects, etc.; monitors and analyses programs/project development and implementation;
    •    Reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions;
    •    Prepares various written outputs, e.g. drafts background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc.;
    •    Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities;
    •    Coordinates activities related to budget and funding project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports

Specific Functions
•    Oversees the project implementation and reporting of GEF and related projects

  • Assists with processing of agreements (including Letters of Agreement – LoAs and Memoranda of Understanding – MoUs);
  • Ensures coordination on the management and implementation projects among relevant units in-house at headquarters
  • Prepares the terms of reference for project experts/consultants to be recruited for the project implementation; coordinates, supervises, and monitors their performance;
  • Reviews the annual work plan and budget for the GEF projects and others;
  • Reviews the annual financial report and the concise annual summary report on the implementation of projects;
  • Liaises with Government and relevant stakeholders
  • Represents the project during relevant events/activities.
  • Collaborate with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and the Environment and other public and private sector stakeholders to assess, evaluate and elaborate projects – primarily climate-re;ated.

Periodic Travel Required

Salary $46K -$51K, commiserating with experience
