WESTWIND CLUB
GENERAL MANAGER

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The General Manager is an employee of the Board of Directors and as such is responsible to implement the policies, rules, and regulations of the Board. This position will oversee the management and daily operations of Westwind Club.  Ensures that the Club operates at a consistent high-level with optimal hospitality and owner/guest satisfaction daily. Works with the overseeing Board of Directors, Club Accountant, Club Lawyer, and Bahamian Government Officials on policies and regulations to ensure that the Club remains in good standing. Lead and encourage staff to reach performance goals while implementing the policies, procedures, and government regulations to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all guests and staff.  Be the best forward-facing representative and advocate for Westwind Club.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management: 

  • function as a leader and role model to all employees, and be available to owners and guests during normal working hours
  • provide an enjoyable atmosphere for the staff, owners, and guests while maintaining an air of authority to insure the good conduct of all and the enforcement of the club’s rules and regulations
  • works with staff to manage housekeeping, landscaping, snack bar, security,
    and office staff
  • lead weekly staff meetings to communicate and ensure employees stay
    well-informed and understand the weekly needs of the club, which can vary from week to week depending on the owners/guests that are scheduled to be at the club

Customer Service: 

  • maintains the highest level of customer service and accommodating the needs of owners/guests
  • develops/maintains great relationships with owners, guests, vendors, contractors
  • tabulate/track any concerns or suggestions expressed by owners or guests and provide a summary of such to the board of directors

Maintenance:

  • be directly responsible for all capital improvements approved by the board, and to see to it that they are completed in a timely fashion so that they will not be an inconvenience to our owners or guests.
  • along with the facilities manager, performs electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool upkeep on a regular basis. Hiring of contractors/subcontractors when needed to perform the above

Budget/Accounting: 

  • works with accountant and board treasurer to develop yearly budget and operates diligently within the confines of said budget
  • monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
  • prepares and emails yearly invoices for maintenance fees to all owners
  • maintains accounts receivable account and assists with collection of aging accounts
  • review and pay all bills

Sales/Resales/Rentals/RCI Trades: 

  • assists the office manager and board with any sales/resales/rental/RCI Trades transactions.
  • provide a weekly report to the board of said transactions

Health and Safety: 

  • ensure the club addresses any issues arising from government inspections and that all government required certifications, licenses, and permits remain current
  • check the facility daily for any outstanding issues and rectify such issues
  • train staff on emergency procedures
  • update and post updated policies and procedures

Procurement: 

  • keep accurate inventory and always maintain sufficient supplies for the resort and bar by obtaining through local stores and vendors or ordering online

Staffing and Performance Management:

  • hiring, training, and scheduling new staff
  • maintaining employee records
  • ensure that performance goals and metrics are established for staff and that all staff are evaluated at least annually on their performances relative to those goals and metrics
  • where performance falls short of expectations, ensure that issues are addressed through either retraining or progressive discipline including, but not limited to, termination
  • where performance exceeds expectations, make recommendations to the board on either salary adjustments or bonuses
