Transportation Supervisor

Job Description

To assure safe and efficient road and barge transportation, oversee Site maintenance and assist with daily operations of the Clifton Bulk Storage.

Principle Accountabilities:

Assure the highest level of safety awareness and practices at all times while helping to promote the corporate HSE culture and
protocols
Supervise daily activities of Drivers and Maintenance contractors
Supervise dispatch operations to ensure that deliveries of all products are completed on time, efficiently and safely.
Oversee all scheduling and dispatching, in a manner which promotes maximum vehicle utilization while minimizing overtime.
Timely reconciliation of inventory sites and completion of barge voyage analysis
Ensure the accurate and timely input of approved delivery orders to the Dantas automated Loading Rack delivery system at the Clifton Terminal.
Carry out and record emergency exercises and drills at SOL PETROLEUM BAHAMAS LTD.’ facilities as required.
Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of all maintenance strategies and demonstrate commitment to those implemented at all company sites (supported and in collaboration with Retail maintenance contractor)
Scheduled maintenance, inspections and general upkeep of all company vehicles and equipment including off road vehicles such as forklifts and pallet jacks
Schedule RTW maintenance to ensure minimum disruption to customers e.g. during non-peak season.
On time delivery of planned and agreed maintenance activities.
Proactively manage Driver overtime and vehicle Utilization (supported by Dispatcher)
Participate in competence monitoring and performance assessment of SOL PETROLEUM BAHAMAS LTD.’ operations staff as appropriate.
Ensure effective implementation and recording of critical procedures as per policy and practice. Such areas include (but are not limited to: PPE, PTW system, MOC, conductivity testing, flash point testing.
Manage Review and collate vehicle utilization reports daily and submit monthly utilization and cost of transportation summary by the 5th working day and covering the previous month.
Coordination (along with Facilities Supervisor) of specific annual staff training in the areas of Loading and discharging from ships and trucks, pipeline operations, tank dipping, firefighting equipment, journey management, electrostatic ignition, crossovers and switch loading.
Ensure all deliveries are as per the MOA and cleared for delivery to the customer.
Liaise with the mechanic to ensure the availability of critical spares and tyres.
Ensure the preparation of and collection of daily Driver’s Vehicle Checklist. Ensure the urgent close out of high and serious risk items.
Ensure the submission of all Daily Vehicle Checklist and Summary of action to the Facility Supervisor.
Submit total vehicle utilization Report in a timely manner to ensure on time delivery to Corporate Operations.
Ensure all Near Miss and UAUC items reported by drivers are recorded in RAP tracker.
Ensure that UAUC summary is submitted to the Facility Supervisor by the 2nd working day of every month.
Document and map “black spots” as identified by drivers and regular staff. (supported by Dispatcher)
Review Bulk Driver’s Customer site records/ reports and ensure a timely correction of faults, HSE standard deficiencies and gaps.
Complete the Daily Own Use Stock reconciliation and utilization.
Organize and participate in Driver’s Tool Box Talks. Ensure that these are documented and items raised and actioned accordingly.
Review RTW HSSE statistics with particular emphasis on road transport and customer delivery issues.

Qualification Requirements:

Associates degree or higher in a technical field with 3-5 years relevant experience at a supervisory level. Experience in distribution operations is a plus.

Other Competency Requirements:

Must be computer literate with proficiency in MS Outlook, MS word, Excel, MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
Experience in Supervising teams and individuals.
A practical operator with a proven ability to get things done on time and on budget.
A positive attitude and team oriented
Knowledge of the local market and operational methods of people in the area.
Able to self plan, motivate, and deliver results.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and an attitude to work well with others in teams.
Excellent interpersonal relationships with the proven ability to supervise effectively.
HSSE and Emergency Codes compliance.

Other Information:

The position will be based in New Providence, Bahamas. In addition to basic salary the successful applicant shall be eligible to participate in the Group Pension Scheme and its noncontributory Group Health and Life Insurance Scheme.
