Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Center is looking for a Zookeeper to join our Animal Care team. Job responsibilities include the daily care of assigned animals including feeding and habitat cleaning, animal behavioral observations, record keeping, animal habitat maintenance, assisting with medical treatments and following all safety procedures. Zookeepers are expected to demonstrate excellent customer service in their interactions with all zoo guests, perform in daily Flamingo shows, safely facilitate animal encounters and assist with education programs and special events. Interested applicants must be able to read and write English, have a clear police record and be legally able to work in the Bahamas. Required Skills:

Ability to follow guidelines and work safely around animals with limited supervision.

Ability to recognize and communicate changes in animal food consumption, behavior and health.

Attention to detail in performing assigned animal care tasks.

Maintain accurate records.

Ability to interact courteously and professionally with co-workers and zoo guests.

Ability to work alone and within a team.

Ability to lift 50lbs.

Must be able to work outside year-round in all weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to speak, read and write English.

High school graduate.

Experience working with animals.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

College degree in Zoology, Biology, Ecology, Psychology or other Natural Science.

At least one year of experience working with animals.

Knowledge of Behavioral Enrichment

Knowledge of Positive Reinforcement Animal Training

Experience with Public Speaking
