Job Title: Handy Foreman – Plumbing, HVAC & Mechanical
Location: Private Island, Bahamas
Reports To: MEP and infrastructure manager
Team Size: Supervises a team of 5-10 technicians

Position Summary:

We are seeking a versatile and experienced Handy Foreman with strong expertise in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems to supervise a small team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of critical infrastructure on a private island in the Bahamas. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, solutions-oriented, and capable of managing both day-to-day tasks and long-term maintenance operations in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision:

• Supervise and mentor a team of 5 semi-skilled local technicians using an agile approach.
• Allocate daily tasks, provide technical guidance, and ensure work quality and safety.
• Coordinate with the helpdesk, project managers, contractors, and other departments to receive multiple work orders and execute them as per schedule.
• Prepare the material take off MTO for development, operations and maintenance
• Knowledge in material specification and method statements as per US standards

Plumbing:

• Install, repair, and maintain pressurized water systems, wastewater systems, and plant connections, PVC and cupper piping at the main transmission and distribution network.
• Ensure proper functioning of pumps, valves, water heaters, pressure tanks, filtration system, piping, fixtures, and fittings inside the villas.
• Troubleshoot and resolve leaks, clogs, pressure issues, and other plumbing problems.
  HVAC
• Install, commission, and service air conditioning split DX systems.
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on compressors, fans, thermostats, and controls.
• Monitor and manage climate systems in residential and utility spaces for optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
  Mechanical
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of generator engines, gearboxes, hydro box, RO membranes, blowers, pulsation pumps, sludge processing, vacuum pumps and mechanical utility rooms.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on motors, fans, mechanical seals, bearings, and rotating equipment.
• Maintain kitchen appliances of ovens, fryers, fridges and cafeteria kitchen hoods, fire suppression systems and gas distribution network for laundry systems.

General:

• Support day-to-day infrastructure operations including minor civil repairs, utility trenching, and equipment relocation.
• Maintain accurate logs, service records, and maintenance schedules using CAFM/ERP.
• Ensure tools and spare parts inventory are maintained and available using excel sheets.

Qualifications & Skills:

Must-Have:

• 10 years of hands-on experience in plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical systems.
• 3+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across multiple systems.
• Comfortable working in remote or island environments with limited immediate support.
• Knowledge of safety protocols, PPE, lockout/tagout, and confined space entry.
• Experience in welding and brazing of metallic sheets and piping.

Preferred:

• Formal certification in Plumbing, HVAC, or Mechanical.
• Knowledge of the Marine environment practices.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical schematics.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time position based on a remote island in the Bahamas.
• On-call availability for emergency repairs outside of normal working hours.
• Work involves outdoor tasks in hot, humid, and occasionally rugged environments.
• On site housing, 3-meals daily allowance, transportation and vacation
