Finance Manager

Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a management position within the Finance department whose primary responsibility is to provide support for the accounting and financial reporting for the Life and Health divisions of Family Guardian Insurance Company Limited.

The key responsibilities of the role includes management of daily accounting operations, development and monitoring of financial controls, management and regulatory reporting and providing support and development for direct reports.

The position will also include communicating and building positive working relationships with internal and external parties in execution of duties to ensure that they are performed in accordance with company policy and procedures, while maintaining the established deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the oversight of payments and accounts payable to ensure that the policyholders and vendors are being paid in accordance with our service level agreement and
  • Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet sub-ledgers, and other reports prepared by direct
  • Prepare regulatory reports for review and submission to Regulators within established
  • Assists with the external and internal audit processes and provide relevant updates to direct report to ensure the efficient and timely completion of the audit including the preparation of audited financial statements in accordance with International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting
  • Preparation of monthly management reports and assist with preparation of quarterly Board Committee reports.
  • Provide coaching and supervision of direct reports including the establishment of SMART goals, learning and development opportunities, and timely feedback and the completion of performance

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (minimum)
  • CPA qualifications or Equivalent (ACCA)
  • Minimum 5 years of Management experience in an accounting environment
  • Strong experience in accounting, treasury management and financial reporting
  • Excellent prioritization skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with external parties and senior management
  • Excellent leadership and supervisory skills
